Allandale, Texas is a small town located on the northwest side of Austin, Texas. Allandale was first settled in 1871 by John A. Alland, who built a home on the site of the present-day Allandale Plantation subdivision. The town was originally named "Allendale" but was changed to "Allandale" in 1887 when it was discovered that there was already another town with that name in Texas. In 1882 James Allen donated land for a schoolhouse that eventually became Allen School District No 1 (later renamed Allandale School District).
